Clearwater Falls is one of the most impressive waterfalls in the Baker area, dropping over 400' down a massive cliff on the west side of the mountain. The stream begins high on Grouse Ridge, meanders along, and then drops off the side of the mountain and into the valley below. The falls begin with a pretty little 10' drop that is followed almost immediately by a 35' tall, 15' wide fan-shaped drop. Below that, the creek zigzags down the mountain in a series of tiers of consecutive drops totaling 304' in height. The falls finish with a really pretty 63' tall bottom section featuring a beautiful horsetailing drop and then a wide block. From the base of the falls, the 63' lower section can be clearly seen. I found one spot to see the majority of the 304' tall middle section, and the top part is easy enough to see by itself, but from nowhere can the entire waterfall be seen at once (other than maybe from the air).

In addition to the massive height of the falls and the relatively large volume of the creek, the entire series of drops is very pretty with gorgeous moss and greenery all around. Clearwater Falls is truly one of the best waterfalls on Mt. Baker and currently sits at #62 on my list of the best in the entire PNW.
