Itswoot Falls

Bear Creek is a large volume creek that drains the basin between Bear Mountain and Spire Mountain into the North Fork of the Skykomish River. The creek contains at least five waterfalls along its descent and they are all amazingly beautiful.

Itswoot Falls is kind of the red-headed step child of the creek. A small tributary stream cascades for 263' down a brush-filled hillside and joins Bear Creek just downstream from Bjorn Falls. It's a pretty set of cascades, and I suspect in the autumn the hillside will be lit up in a myriad of oranges, reds, and yellows as the brush changes color. Think of this waterfall as more of an accent to nearby Bjorn Falls. I had pretty cruddy lightning on my visit with the sun right over the top of Itswoot Falls. I suspect that with the right conditions, one could get some pretty nice pictures of this waterfall. Like the others on the creek, I've given this one a name that means "bear", this time in Chinook Jargon.
