DIRECTIONS - From the South Skagit Highway, turn onto Finney Creek Road (FR 17) and follow it for about 15 miles, taking a right at the junction with FR 18, over Cumberland Pass and begin the drive down the other side. The lower part of the falls are right next to the road and impossible to miss. Cumberland Road is closed from the west side due to logging so a much longer drive is required to get to the falls.
This creek pours down from Iron Mountain right next to Finney/Cumberland Road on the Cumberland side. I have suspected for sometime that there were more tiers to the falls up above and recent trip proved me correct. The bottom drop is a 34' tall set of back to back sliding drops. Around the corner and about 100' upstream is the upper section which drops 111' in a series of small drops, culminating in a pretty horsetail. The top part of the falls is very difficult to get to and even if you do get there it's not the best view in the world. The big upper tier makes this waterfall much more impressive than I originally thought. The falls can change dramatically in volume with rainfall. The pictures below show the falls at low and high water from about the same spot.
