DIRECTIONS - Drive out Baker Lake Road, turn left onto FR 12, take a right onto FR 13, and follow it to the Schreibers Meadows Trailhead. A couple hundred feet down the trail, take a right onto the Scott Paul Trail. The trail climbs steadily uphill through beautiful forest for about 2 miles until it finally enters a small meadow with a view of Mt. Shuksan. Continue along the Scott Paul Trail which will re-enter the woods for a short time before emerging into a stunning display of boulders and flowers. About 3/4 of a mile past the meadow, the trail crosses Sulphur Creek just above Kathryn Falls. Rock hop down the east side of the creek for a good view of the falls.
Kathryn Falls is a small waterfall located in the upper stretches of Sulphur Creek. The waterfall begins with a pretty set of bedrock cascades. The creek then slides into a ramp and launches itself over the main portion of the falls, a 20' tall free fall. The entire waterfall stands at 33' tall. The area around the waterfall is absolutely full of wildflowers. I named the waterfall after my Grandma Kay, who passed away a few days before I found the falls.
