DIRECTIONS - From Upper Cherry Creek Falls, bushwhack upstream on the right side of Cherry Creek for about 6/10 of a mile. You may occasionally find very faint pieces of an old trail but for the most part this is a difficult bushwhack. Try to stay fairly close to the creek. We strayed away from it and added a very difficult extra half a mile to our trip in.
This nice waterfall occurs where a branch of Cherry Creek tumbles about 80' into a glorified mud puddle known as Cherry Lake. While the trip in is pretty difficult, the scene once you arrive at the lake is nice. Cherry Lake is surrounded by cliffs on three sides, and a marshy area all around. It would certainly be possible to make your way around the lake right to the falls, but we decided we liked this view better. There is a very small left segment to the falls which was basically dry on my visit and there is reported to be an upper falls located a short distance upstream from the top of Cherry Lake Falls.
