Every creek that drains off the west side of Mt. Si, known as the "Moon Wall", has a waterfall or two. Hancock Creek is no exception. From the lake to its convergence with the North Fork, Hancock Creek contains four major waterfalls, as well as several other minor ones. The middle falls is the most unique of the group and probably my favorite along the creek. The falls drop through the middle of a cliff face, beginning with a small plunge. The creek then turns and slides down a narrow trough in the bedrock, turning left 90 degrees towards the end and plunging into a nice pool of water. From the base, most of the waterfall is hidden behind the rock wall. From higher up the entire falls can be seen, but trees block clear views. A hydro-electric project is in the process of being built on the creek so it will be interesting to see how much water they let run.
