Hikers on the popular Ross Dam Trail can't help but take a look at massive Pierce Creek Falls beginning its plunge from just below the beautiful bridge over the creek. However, very few people will venture upstream to get a glimpse of this small upper falls running through a gorgeous, narrow, twisting, moss-lined canyon. The waterfall drops a total of about 45' in two tiers, the lower of which is a segmented 30' drop. Getting a view of the falls involves scrambling along the north side of the creek for a few hundred feet to the corner. Some of the rocks on this side are pretty slick so be very careful if you attempt to scramble upstream. This is one of those places where making a mistake kills you.
